I would like to introduce myself to you as the CEO of global art center GLO’ART, where over the past few years, we have welcomed very talented artists from all over the world.
GLO’ART is located in the Belgian border town of Lanaken and is a social, non-profit art center for gifted, global artists who are sometimes still lesser-known. Since 2013, we invite ten artists each month for a four-week stay during which their artistic skills are put to the test. GLO’ART offers every opportunity to support these artists in the best possible way, not only financially but also with facilities and on a personal level. Our aim is to come to a selection of the best artists, and to promote them and guide them towards an enviable position in the art scene, with a better name awareness.
As an entrepreneur, I have successfully done business all my life, both in Belgium and abroad. After more than fifty years I decided it was enough and that I had to start enjoying my pension. However, doing business is in my blood. Spending my days on a golf court was not what I wanted.
I have always been interested in art. After my retirement, I was going to establish a painter’s club with some friends and create art myself. However, I soon realised it would be better to leave the creation to real artists. Thus, the idea grew to make a difference for those artists.
The social, non-profit art center GLO’ART was born.
I am proud to be able to inform you that we have by now received over three hundred artists from sixty countries. All their artwork can be viewed in our stunning art center GLO’ART. We have a sizeable collection of wonderful, stimulating, contemplative, narrative and confronting contemporary art of mostly young artists, beautifully displayed on an impressive and inspiring estate. It touches, moves and above all, it lives!
Today you are holding the result of our efforts. Our catalogue shows the crème de la crème of all our artists and has been carefully compiled for the opening of GLO’ART in June 2019. The enthusiasm, the mutual chemistry, the passion and the great involvement, the artists felt during their stay with GLO’ART, will be clearly evident when you leaf through the catalogue.
As a well-kept secret and a hidden gem in the valley of the Grensmaas region, GLO’ART and the artists are finally ready for the world!

Graag stel ik mij aan u voor als de CEO van internationaal kunstcentrum GLO’ART waar wij de afgelopen jaren bijzondere, getalenteerde kunstenaars van over de hele wereld welkom heetten.
GLO’ART is gevestigd in de Belgische grensgemeente Lanaken en een sociaal, cultureel non-profit kunstcentrum voor begaafde, mondiale kunstenaars die nauwelijks een inkomen hebben en nog geen naamsbekendheid genieten. Sinds 2013 nodigen wij maandelijks tien kunstenaars uit voor een verblijf van vier weken waarin ze worden getoetst op hun artistieke vaardigheden. GLO’ART biedt alle mogelijkheden om de kunstenaars op de best mogelijke manier te ondersteunen, zowel op financieel, facilitair en persoonlijk vlak. Ons doel is om tot een selectie van de beste kunstenaars te komen en deze kunstenaars te promoten en te begeleiden naar een mooie positie in de kunstwereld, met meer inkomen en naamsbekendheid.
Mijn hele leven heb ik als ondernemer met succes in zowel binnen- als buitenland zaken gedaan. Na ruim vijftig jaar besloot ik dat het genoeg was en dat ik van mijn pensioen moest gaan genieten. Het ondernemen zit mij echter in het bloed. Mijn dagen op de golfbaan slijten was niet wat ik wilde.
Kunst heeft altijd mijn interesse genoten. Samen met vrienden zou ik na mijn pensioen een schildersclub oprichten en zelf kunst gaan maken. Al snel begreep ik dat ik het schilderen beter aan echte artiesten kon overlaten. Zo ontstond het idee om voor die artiesten iets te betekenen.
Het non-profit kunstcentrum GLO’ART was geboren.
Met trots kan ik u vertellen dat we tot nu toe meer dan driehonderd kunstenaars uit zestig landen hebben mogen ontvangen. Al hun werken zijn te bezichtigen in ons prachtig kunstcentrum GLO’ART. We beschikken over een aanzienlijke collectie van mooie, prikkelende, beschouwende, verhalende en confronterende hedendaagse kunst van veelal jonge kunstenaars, schitterend tentoongesteld op een indrukwekkend en inspirerend domein. Het raakt, het ontroert, het beweegt en bovenal, het lééft!
Vandaag heeft u het resultaat van onze inspanningen in handen. Onze catalogus toont de crème de la crème uit al onze kunstenaars en is met grote zorg samengesteld voor de opening van GLO’ART in juni 2019. Het enthousiasme, de onderlinge chemie, de bezieling en grote betrokkenheid die de kunstenaars tijdens hun verblijf bij GLO’ART voelden, laat zich overtuigend vinden wanneer men in de catalogus bladert.
Als een goed bewaard geheim en als een verborgen parel in de Grensmaasvallei zijn GLO’ART en de kunstenaars eindelijk klaar voor de wereld!
